ABOUT JOKER’S HAND
Joker’s Hand is a rock band from Torrance, CA that brings punk energy and lyrical depth into a sound that both grips and resonates through the generations.
The seeds of the band were planted in 2017 when founding members Kevin Kawano (lead vocals, guitar) and Matt Lau (guitar, vocals), then roommates at UC Santa Cruz, discovered a shared passion for skateboarding and music.
Joker’s Hand’s style is rooted in rock, but colored by influences from punk, metal, hip-hop and pop. Their songwriting approach is dynamic, sometimes starting with riffs, other times starting with lyric or melody.
At their core, Joker’s Hand is more than just a band - they are storytellers, pushing against silence and speaking up when others stay quiet. Their music often explores social issues, identity, struggle, and the tension between hope and rage. They aim not just to entertain but to challenge, provoke thought, and inspire listeners to find power in being unexpected.
